Gauguin Brooch
The brooch is a reduced portion of Gauguin's painting titled "la Orana Maria" (Holy Mary) which was painted during his Tahitian period paintings. The brooch "is a bi-metal "sandwich" of brass, sterling, plexiglass and photo paper held together with brass screws. The sterling silver overlay frame is embellished with a star fish, palm tree, shell and bird adding to Gauguin's tropical theme.
